Members who wish to obtain a copy of the membership list

NOTICE
Recently based upon the initiative of a member of the Newfoundland Pony Society, a ruling has been received from the NL Department of Justice regarding the release of membership lists. The Council after informal discussions with the Registrar had erred on the side of caution, not wanting to release personal information, not wishing to be in contravention of PIPEDA - Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. It has since been determined that no contravention would occur. The ruling was received by Council on October 28.
Members who wish to obtain a copy of the membership list must meet the requirements of the NL Corporations Act. They are as follows:
A member may request a basic member list and the Corporation must provide, within ten (10) days of such request, the said list provided the following conditions are met:
1. payment of the prescribed fee; and
2. an Affidavit of the Applicant is provided which states:
a) the Applicant's name and address
b) the name and address for service of the body corporate where the applicant is a body corporate; and
c) the basic list will not be used except in connection with:
i) an effort to influence the voting of shareholders of the corporation
ii) an offer to acquire shares of the corporation; or
iii) other matters relating to the affairs of the corporation.
The prescribed fee for the list is $10.
